Top 4 Common Dishwasher Repair Problems
Is your Dishwasher experiencing one of these problems? Try some of our tips to see if that fixes the issue. We are always happy to help over the phone or via email as well.
1 -
Dishwasher is Not Filling With Water
Check underneath your sink to ensure the water valve for the Dishwasher's supply line is opened all the way. Ensure that your aren't experiencing water pressure issues elsewhere in the house. Lastly, the water inlet valve on the dishwasher may be clogged or defective. If none of these fix your issue, there could be an electrical issue preventing the dishwasher from sending power to the water inlet valve.
2 -
Dishwasher is Not Cleaning Dishes Effectively
If your dishwasher is completing its full cycle but the dishes are still dirty afterwards, try the following: ensure you are using the correct amount and type of detergent for your machine; try running the hot water in your sink for 15 seconds prior to starting the dishwasher to ensure it fills with hot water; and make sure nothing is blocking the spray arms from spinning freely.
3 -
Dishwasher is Leaking
Depending on where and when the leak occurs, there could be several causes. Constant leaking from under the Dishwasher regardless of operation would indicate a possible damaged water inlet valve or supply hose. Leaking from the front of your Dishwasher during its cycle could be caused by too much detergent or the incorrect type of detergent, or a faulty level sensor switch/float.
4 -
Dishwasher is Not Draining
While a small amount of water left in the tub is normal, a Dishwasher that is unable to drain the majority of its water can lead to leaking as well as unclean dishes. The likely culprits include a clogged food filter, a jammed food chopper, a kinked or clogged drain hose, or a defective drain pump. Try running your dishwasher on a drain & rinse cycle to see if it is able to drain anything at all.
