Top 4 Common Dryer Repair Problems
Is your Dryer experiencing one of these problems? Try some of our tips to see if that fixes the issue. We are always happy to help over the phone or via email as well.
1 -
Dryer Spins But Doesn't Heat
Electric Dryers require two household circuits in order to provide the necessary voltage for the heating element. It is always best practice to reset the breaker to the dryer in case one of the two circuits experienced an issue. If your dryer uses gas for it's heating source, check to make sure the gas valve hasn't been closed. If the dryer still does not heat, it will need professional diagnosis to determine why power is not going to the heating element or the gas ignition circuit.
2 -
Dryer Doesn't Power On At All
If your dryer is completely unresponsive, try resetting the circuit breaker. If your dryer is powered by a standard residential power outlet, try plugging in a lamp to the same outlet to rule out an issue with the power supply. If still unresponsive, the issue is likely internal to the dryer such as a blown fuse or a bad control board.
3 -
Dryer Powers on, but Doesn't Spin
If your Dryer powers on correctly, but fails to spin, there could be several issues such as a broken belt, a bad door switch, or in rare cases, a worn or seized motor. Unless the dryer produces an error code that helps explain what is wrong, a dryer that doesn't spin can be caused by many issues and needs an in-person diagnosis.
4 -
Clothes are Still Damp After Cycle
If your Dryer is successfully completing it's cycle and your clothes are still damp or wrinkled, the issue can often involve too little airflow, or not enough heat. Too much lint build-up can reduce airflow and reduce the Dryer's ability to extract moisture. A worn heating element or faulty thermostat may be the cause as it might not be able to produce the high heats needed to effectively dry.
