Top 4 Common Fridge & Freezer Repair Problems
Is your Refrigerator or Freezer experiencing one of these problems? Try some of our tips to see if that fixes the issue. We are always happy to help over the phone or via email as well.
1 -
Refrigerator isn't Cold but the Freezer is
If you have a fridge/freezer combo and only the refrigerator side is warm, the most likely culprit could be a frozen damper, a flap that opens and closes to let cool air into the fridge. Similarly, the thermostat that controls this device could also be the source of the problem. Another thing to ensure is that both the fridge and freezer compartments are not over-filled. Both sides require proper airflow in order to stay within their specified temperature range.
2 -
Refrigerator is Making Loud Noises or Constantly Cycling
While some noises from your Refrigerator are part of its normal operation, a noticeably noisy refrigerator could be a signal for a future problem. Many times, a noisy fridge is accompanied by frequent cycling of it's compressor due to inadequate airflow under the appliance. Check the condenser coils underneath your fridge and ensure they are not clogged with dust, pet hair, or dirt.
3 -
Both Fridge & Freezer are Warm
While there are many possible causes for both a warm Refrigerator and Freezer, looking for various clues can help narrow down the problem. Was a fridge or freezer door recently left open for too long? If so, frost may have built up over the evaporator, preventing a fan from running or air to move freely. Another component to test is the Refrigerator's thermostat, by setting it to the coldest setting and listening for a relay click.
4 -
Ice Maker is not Making Ice
The ice maker's motor could have seized and needs replacement. Another cause could be a clogged (or often frozen) water valve at the ice maker. If you see ice cubes in the ice maker tray, but they are not being ejected from the machine, there is likely an issue with the defrost circuit of the ice maker, which allows for the subes to be loosened and ejected.
